Token Escrows Expand to RLUSD
XRPL validator Vet confirmed the upcoming expansion of escrow functionality beyond native XRP tokens. This change will introduce escrow capabilities for RLUSD, Ripple’s upcoming stablecoin, through amendment-based implementation. It allows XRPL accounts to lock issued tokens with similar functionality used for XRP.
The upgrade modifies key escrow transaction types, including EscrowCreate, EscrowFinish, and EscrowCancel, to support IOUs and MPTs. The amendment ensures escrow logic properly manages trustline permissions, transfer rates, and locked balances. It also integrates controls for freeze and authorization, increasing asset flexibility and compliance.

XRPL will enforce new checks for escrowed RLUSD accounts to maintain ledger consistency and protect locked balances.
